The owner Ed Seckeler started the business (Ed's Welding) part-time in 1978 while working for some of the top companies in the area during the day and in 1988 left his supervisor job and went full time as ES Ironworks.

Our services include the fabrication and installation of Wrought Iron Railings, Steel Stairs, Pipe Railings, Wrought Iron Estate/Driveway Gates and structural steel services. Welding school circa 1978About The Owner

His father was an eastern European immigrant who came to this country during the great depression and instilled in him and his siblings at an early age the value of hard work and, above all else, the rewards of working with your hands. He grew up working with his dad and older brother repairing and maintaining heavy equipment from their excavating company.

After graduating from welding school in 1978, Ed went to work building his “real world” work experience and worked in various welding and fabricating jobs. He took night classes in construction blueprint reading, mechanical drawing and several AutoCAD courses. He worked up through the ranks to eventually working as a foreman in two of the firms here on Long Island.

In 1981, he bought his first welding machine with a loan from a friend and started doing “side jobs” on nights and weekends utilizing the tools and building that was his dad’s old repair shop from his excavating business. He made railings, stairs and other fabrications for local customers.

In 1988, he gave his two week notice, which turned into two months before his boss could find a suitable replacement. Starting as Ed’s Welding for several years and then at the urging of a customer who was about to embark on a rather large venture with him he changed the company name to ES Ironworks and eventually became incorporated.

Fast forward to 2023, 45 years after he started welding and fabricating and this is the experience and expertise built into every job we undertake.
